Meet Ernest Hadzhi: The Visionary CEO of Sena Financial Services

From Humble Beginnings to Leadership

Behind every great organisation is a leader with a vision, and at Sena Financial Services, that leader is Ernest Hadzhi. Ernest’s life story is one of resilience, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to social justice and financial inclusion.

Born in Soweto and raised in the rural areas of Limpopo by his grandmother, Ernest began his schooling career learning under a tree. Like many children in previously disadvantaged communities, he faced significant hardships. Yet, these challenges taught him mental strength, resourcefulness, and the power of faith. His journey is a testament to the idea that the most amazing things in life often happen just when we’re about to give up hope.

A Professional Journey of Excellence

Ernest’s career began as a Senior Secondary Mathematics and Physical Science Teacher. In 1996, he transitioned to the insurance industry, starting as a Data Capturer and rising to executive roles at Rand Mutual Assurance. His leadership led to appointments on influential boards, including the Compensation Fund Board and its Committees, as designated by the Minister of Labour.

With qualifications spanning insurance, management, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Ernest has also completed the Global Executive Development Programme. His extensive experience with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and the Association for Savings and Investment South Africa (ASISA) showcases his dedication to driving meaningful change.

Ernest’s dream has always been to overcome the challenges he faced so he could help others overcome theirs. This vision is at the heart of Sena Financial Services. Under his leadership, Sena stands out as a company dedicated to transforming lives through innovative, inclusive, and holistic financial solutions.

We are quite excited to embark on this journey together and wish to encourage you to follow our monthly newsletter. We have decided to start this journey by focusing on challenges relating for Occupational injuries and diseases. For this reason, this year we will focus on unpacking the origin of Workers Compensation in South Africa and how it has unfolded to date.  

Our intention is to equip you with knowledge so that you can identify and handle any Workers Compensation currently known and Compensation for Occupational Injuries (COIDA) issues with ease. More importantly we want to give assure you that we are there to help with COIDA related matters weather in your individual capacity or as a business. After this we will start demonstrating how we have built innovative and affordable products around this important legislation and other social insurance products we have in South Africa.
